Loosing Things and People

Weekly Sabbath Survey
Loosing Things and People  —  2014

The following is taken from a teaching by Nickie Pinson, a pastor in Sulphar Springs, Texas. I’m in full agreement that people with the power of God are equipped and commissioned to loose people and things for the purposes of the Lord. Whether this is loosing them from darkness into His marvelous light, or loosing those who are already in His service into another level of usefulness: it is good to help people and even “things” to be free in Jesus.

I’m reminded of a church in a small town that purchased a used school bus. Their purpose was to refurnish it  so they could pick up neighborhood kids for church and Bible School. For a couple of years it was parked behind the building doing nothing. Another pastor kept seeing it time after time, languishing back there. He prayed, and went to the other pastor asking to buy it for their church to use on mission trips to Mexico. The first man, declined. He would not loose the bus into the work of the Kingdom. It sat back there rusting and wasting away, vandals broke out the windows. Birds and mice nested inside. The tires rotted. The engine and body rusted. The bus died in the dark, because its owner wouldn’t allow it to be brought into the Light. Some people have lived lives just like that, too.  ~CRM

Luke 19:30-34  Go into the village over against you; in the which at your entering you shall find a colt tied, where on never man yet sat: loose him, and bring him here.  And if any man asks you, Why do you loose him? thus shall you say to him, Because the Lord has need of him.  And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said to them.  And as they were loosening the colt, the owners thereof said to them, Why are you loosening the colt? And they said, The Lord has need of him.

The Lord needed that donkey, but someone had tied it up so that it was held captive and was of no use to Christ in that condition.  Just as the Lord sent His disciples to loose that donkey, so He is looking for disciples today that will loose things and people that He has need of.

Will we go in obedience and loose things and people in the name of Jesus so that they can be useful in the work of the Lord?   If the Lord does send us to loose, be prepared to be misunderstood and challenged.

Is it possible for us to have the power to loose those things and people that are bound today?

John 11:43-44  Jesus cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.  And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin.  Jesus said to them, Loose him, and let him go.

There is no question that even today so many things and people are bound by the power of the enemy, and they desperately need to be loosed.  God is calling for believers that will gather together in Jesus’ name and function in the ministry of binding and loosing.

Heaven will back up and enforce us when we are led by the Holy Spirit (this ministry is not by our discretion) to bind and loose in the name of Jesus.   If one can “chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight”, then two or three believers can gather together in Jesus’ name so that He will be in their midst.  Only when He is in our midst can we agree together for anything and it shall be done for us by our Heavenly Father!  That is what should be happening in our assemblies – we should see people loosed by the power of God to the glory of God!

Only Jesus can raise people from their dead situations, but he uses us to roll away the stones (by the word of God) that block their usefulness, and to loose them for service (by the mighty power of the Holy Spirit). Only Jesus can save a lost soul, but then those that are free must help them to become loose and free from those things that has bound them for so long!
