Today is the Day — 4-20-13
It still surprises me when I encounter “Christian” people who have no assurance of salvation. These are agnostics (means ‘does not know’; they are undecided about God and Jesus) Some may have been members of a church for years, but still feel something is missing — something is not right between them and God. Some are very good people, admired by all who know them. I came across a Scripture not along ago that explains this perfectly. 1 Corinthians 2:6 and following. There are important keys to this mystery of salvation in Jesus. (please read for yourself)
God’s plan was to reveal His wisdom, His spiritual things, not so much to leaders and persons of power among humanity, but to everyone, and especially the ordinary person. Like fishermen. Most ordinary people don’t depend so much on themselves or their riches the way people with power and position tend to do. The ordinary ones trust God more readily because their other resources are not much. It’s the reason why Jesus said it would be difficult (but not impossible!) for a rich man to enter into the heavenlies where God is.
The root of every spiritual understanding (as opposed to intellect) is formed in our spirit, rather than in our natural mind. Somehow our spirit man embraces the truth of Jesus: He was crucified for MY sins. Once this is believed deeply in the heart, the other truths in the Bible will be revealed to us as we study on our own (the Holy Spirit teaching us) and as we are taught by others. The first step is to acknowledge the fact that this understanding cannot be possessed by our mind. It is obtained, understood and owned in our spirit.
There are several ways to go about this. Prayers we can say. But however we do it, the sure sign of a Born Again life, or The New Birth, is that we CHANGE. Some people may take a little time to make obvious changes. But the changes come along for all of us. Things that used to engage us and were fun, don’t interest us so much any more. Our speech gets cleaned up. Our focus is out to others rather than in toward ourselves. We have a desire to “help” the Lord take care of people in need. We have a desire to read and understand God’s Word. We may have a need to apologize to people we have hurt in the past. If we took advantage of someone we go make it right with them. All this ads up to somebody who has been CHANGED by the Spirit of God, Holy Spirit that lives in those who are called by the name of Jesus.
There is an aspect of fear for some people. Fear of the unknown maybe. Or a fear that they will fall short and fail in the faith. No sincere Believer fails. We fall down, but we get back up. We are never a disappointment to the Lord. Like earthly parents, He grieves for us, our willful stupidity at times, the messes we may get in that cause much pain for ourselves and others.
I heard Jesus say to me a long time ago, when I had been a Believer for some time, “I don’t see you the way you see yourself. You see yourself with your scratched up arms and hands, your skinned knees, your wounds you got from your friends, your filthy clothes, your wild, dirty hair, your bare feet bruised and bleeding — things that have happened as you have worked so hard to climb up to the High Places with me. I see you how you look in my Kingdom of Love. You are cleansed in the living waters that flow from the Throne of God. Your face is clean with no tears flowing from your eyes. Your wounds and bruises are healed. You have no pain. You are wearing the White Robes of the Overcomer. Your hair is beautiful and the Crown of Righteousness is on your head.”
Our transformation in the Lord begins with salvation and seems to go on for our whole lives. But it occurs instantly in His eyes. He doesn’t see us the old way any more.
Praise be the God for His unspeakable gift. It’s worth cannot be fully described in words that we know.
Today is the day of salvation. If you have been waiting for the right time, please know, it is NOW.
The one that overcomes, that one, shall be clothed in white robes, and I will not blot their name out of the Book of Life, but I will speak their name to my Father and His angels. Revelation 3:5
